Pretty much everything in the post about the potential problems with transioning is accurate. And for too many, they need to be considered carefully, before taking that first step.

And now for the other side. I did transition. Later in life, and with my eyes wide open. I absolutely knew the many risks, career, family, social, etc. But I weighed them against becoming who I already was, just not on the outside.

I was careful to make decisions that not only preserved the important things like family and career, but enhanced the rest. I am more settled, more open, and take better care of myself now.

If anyone here wants to take shots at me, fire away. I've learned to not be hurt by anyone who I am not close to.

All of this is just to say that transitioning isn't always the worst thing that can happen, but it can certainly be terrible if you ignore the many pitfalls the are definitely going to come up on the journey.

Thanks for sharing your experience. It sounds like you went into your transition with eyes wide open. I'm glad you have been able to hold onto the important things in the process.

You hid my comment? Why?

It says something about commenting rules. Where are they?

Hi Erin, your comment was automatically moderated - I'm not sure why. It's now unhidden.

That's good! I would add a bit about the gruesome operations. About the fact that once you take body altering drugs and cut off parts, you can't go back. You'll forever be mutilated.
